Handbag Lovers Obsessing And Sneaking During Work Hours!
Is it me or are more and more people are using their workplace computers to surf for online deals? Obsessed handbag lovers seem to be leading the pack.
I have been reading on purse and bag forums and bag lovers just seem to blatantly be on the job while posting threads about handbags they are preparing to buy.
I've done lots of customer service for eBay businesses and ecommerce stores but always seem to find the handbag lovers calling during work hours. I've had my share of wacky customer service calls.
One lady quickly placed me on hold cause her "boss was coming". Forty seconds later shes back apologizing explaining that she's "been looking at the site all day at work and have been trying to decide which bag to purchase."
So let me get this straight you wasted 6 hours of your companies time to browse our handbag website? Interesting. Im glad you don't work for me.
The other day we received an email from a determined bag lover.
"Hello, I am looking for the [certain handbag] and I noticed that it was once on your site before, does this mean that its out of stock. Im really worried because it my birthday next week and my husband said that he would get me that bag. I really need you to respond soon so I can delete this email before my boss gets back! Please let me know as soon as possible or actually by around 3 oclock.
Thank you [name]
So am I gonna get this girl fired or in trouble if i respond to this email a bit late? Then I started thinking, ok what time zone is she in? Then the obvious smacked me in the head. Has she heard of the many free email addresses out there? Thats right, free and private! That way you wont have to worry about your boss reading your email when youre inquiring about that special handbag at work. If your gonna try to be stealth, use some common sense.
So if you are shopping online for handbags during your companies time here are some tips to remain stealth.
-Use a private email address - not the companies email
-Make sure you know how to clear the history on your browser
-Always be ready to exit or minimize if the boss is coming - use short cuts
-Try to keep your purchases fairly silent - don't tell every female and metro sexual male in the workplace your gonna buy a new bag. Tell only the trusted!
Memorize your credit card information so you don't have to pull it out and be ultra obvious - some people suck at remembering numbers but I on the other hand have no problem memorizing a couple credit cards numbers and expiry dates.
Do not proceed to facebook and tell the masses you just bought a new bag, wait till after work :)
I guess at the end of the day its not really my responsibility, but really I have just noticed how many people are blatantly surfing the web while on someone else's time. It would be nice to see some statistics on how many fanatic bag shoppers are getting away with this.
