American Idol 7: Ramiele Malubay Elimination Interview
After singing Dolly Partons Do I Ever Cross Your Mind for the Top 9 Performances, Filipino-American hopeful Ramiele Malubay got eliminated from the FOXs talent search American Idol. In an interview with the press, the 4-feet and 11-inches tall woman talked about her experiences on the show and her future plans, including moving in with semi-finalist Danny Noriega.
Ramiele admitted she was actually unfamiliar with Partons song. I wanted to challenge myself to see how I could take a song and kind of make it my own even though it wasn't in the same genre, like the kind of music that I tended to do, she said. The 20-year-old singer prided herself for growing up performance-wise that night.
However, she also confessed that she knew she would be saying goodbye as soon as she took the stage. I felt like I was going home -- not to be negative, because I'm not that kind of person. I just felt it a lot more when Dolly sang. And I was praying while she was singing. But it's OK. All of us have to leave sometime, there's only one winner, Ramiele related.
Asked on whether she thought Simon was mean, Ramiele answered Oh Simon likes me, I know he does. Then she gave out a hearty laugh. She shared that after her elimination, Simon approached her backstage. He's a very nice guy. He was just telling me you know, It was song choice, it was song choice. And I really do believe, he says the things he saysbecause he just wants us to be better, defended Ramiele.
On her future moving in with close friend Danny, she had this to share: I'm not sure yet when we're going to move in together because of the tour and whatnot. But I do know we're really close. I still talk to him every single day You don't really get to share that kind of experience with just anybody, so he and I, it's like we clicked and we want to be there for each other. And I'll be fine and he'll be fine and we'll take care of each other, she said.
Part of her future plans is staying in LA for a while to try to pursue something. If it doesnt work, shell go back to school and take up nursing. Shes also interested in acting.
