Pay Per Play Rockin The Marketing World
Pay per play (PPP) audio online advertising has certainly rocked the internet marketing world since it's official media blitz began on December 7, 2007. Subscribers to pay per play will place a small piece of code on their selected web pages. Every time that the page is opened, a 5 second audio advertisement will play, and the owner will receive one credit. Affiliates referring new members will also share in the advertising revenue. This pay per play system is certainly revolutionary ... never before has a web page generated revenue simply by attracting visitors.
The overwhelming response to pay per play can be verified by looking at the traffic at several of the major search engines. Here are the search statistics for past 9 days (ending 12/24/07)
Date Google Yahoo MSN
12/15/07 1,200 286 11,800
12/19/07 81,900 305,500 126,000
12/23/07 175,600 415,200 183,300
The meteoric rise in popularity of the pay per play program is undeniable; however, becoming the center of the internet marketing universe does not come without its detractors.
The naysayers are primarily in two camps.
1.Once again, an intrusive form of revenue generation is being forced upon the consumer, and they won't put up with it.
2.NetAudioAds stumbled with a similar program in 2006, and former members involved at that time are expressing concern whether this will just be a repeat performance.
In a blog post dated at 3:51AM, Sunday, December 23, 2007, Mr. Charles Heflin, the Director of Marketing for NetAudioAds new pay per play advertising marketing campaign, had this to say regarding the above stated concerns... http://www.seo2020.com/seo-blog/40/netaudioads-voice2page-pay-per-play-a-media-explosion/
Skeptics believe that audio ads are not viable because people will turn down the volume on their speakers and advertisers will be charged for audio ads that arent heard. What these skeptics do not understand is the fact that NetAudioAds Voice2Page is 5 years in the making and extensive studies have been performed to determine that 80% of computer speakers are turned on all the time.
Skeptics believe that audio advertising is annoying and is not viable because they believe it will drive website visitors away. They say these things without any proof that this is the case. I agree that audio ads on certain pages of a website (like checkout pages or sales processes) can be a distraction. Fortunately, website owners can choose the individual pages of their site where they want to play 5 second audio ads to their visitors.
If 5 second audio advertising were not a viable opportunity for publishers and advertisers then NetAudioAds would not be experiencing explosive growth. In just 3 weeks the network has grown from 500,000 websites to over 3 million which is estimated to extend the reach of NetAudioAds Pay Per Play by more than 100 million audio ad plays per day.
Regarding the credibility issue, Mr. Heflin had this to say.
Some former affiliates of NetAudioAds are desparately trying to discredit NetAudioAds as a viable opportunity by spreading opinion that is not well researched or based on facts. Some other former affiliates are resorting to libelous activities to discredit NetAudioAds and Pay Per Play.
They are using negative (unsubstantiated) press as a way to drive traffic to their website to ride the coat-tails of the traffic and momentum that Pay Per Play has gained. In short, they are using the contrarian approach to advertising to ride the wave of attention that NetAudioAds Pay Per Play is receiving. This is evidenced by claims of insider knowledge that only NetAudioAds itself and its advertisers could know.
Another bone of contention was voiced in a post questioning the actual level of involvement of the advertisers mentioned on the pay per play sales page. (See Ref. #1)
The Launch of Pay Per Play is trying to take the Internet by Storm but it has become evident that many proclaimed smart marketers have failed to do due diligence before getting behind this one.
One of the biggest misnomers in their launch material is that they claim to already have advertisers on board and when you click to hear audio ads from "actual advertisers" you hear the names of Harley Davidson, HBO (Taxicab Confessions 6), Taco Bell and Burger King.
All of these ads are in the same voice and do not depict actual purchased advertising the biggest give away with out verifying directly with the alleged actual advertisers (which has been done) is the Taxi Cab Confessions 6 Advertisement.
Although not specifically addressed by Mr. Heflin, one might think that the huge players mentioned in the pay per play sales report; i.e. Burger King, Harley Davidson, and Taco Bell, would immediately demand their names removed if not true. Research found no public response from these mentioned advertisers.
Again, according to Charles Heflin, So far in 3 weeks we have been successful in extending the reach of NetAudioAds from 500,000 websites to over 3 million. Best of all, affiliates will be the beneficiary of all the residual income produced from Pay Per Play advertising placed on these new websites. The power to earn off of major advertising contracts is now in the hands of the little guy and is no longer available only to the advertising elite.
That being said, it certainly appears that many potential advertising beneficiaries are not going to 'wait and see'. Like it or not, there is potentially millions of dollars worth of online advertising revenue available beginning February 1, 2008, and those in a position to benefit will most certainly give this careful consideration.
It is only appropriate in closing to offer one more quote from Charles Heflin. Ever the internet marketer, he offered:
If you want more information on getting involved as an affiliate, find out how to get involved before the doors shut at ... So Charles, if I don't bust a move now, then .........???
