Turn Your Restaurant Walls into a Visual Menu through Digital Graphic Printing

Sometimes, words alone dont give justice to the craft and labor that goes into a culinary creation. They are not enough to give a clear image of a dish. By displaying pictures of the food, the customer can gain a better idea of what your restaurant offers. Large and rich pictures are now easy to access with digital graphic printing.

This is probably the best publicity that you can give your dishes. Tasteful styling and technical know-how with cameras can make your food look not just palatable but enticing. This is especially important whether your serving high-class dishes such as duck confit with foie gras or regular fried chicken or burger and fries on your menu.

Reasons to put up large pictures of selected menu selections

An image of a food does just draw attention, it gives a jolt in the memory bank. This occurrence helps a person gauge if the food is likely to be good or awful to the palate, by recalling a pleasant or bad experience with a similar dish or ingredient. But even if the food or ingredients do not trigger much taste bud memory, making it appear better makes a person crave it.

Also, a well-taken picture can give the dish a little extra something. A little extra sheen on the surface, a little extra vibrant color, and an overall little extra appeal with good lighting and a shot from the best angle.

Give your food a chance to shine when it normally couldnt due to factors like inconsistent lighting from different angles, or possible changes in appearance from the time it is cooked or prepared up to the time it is served, especially for heat-sensitive ingredients such as ice cream.

Choose only the dishes that you want to highlight from the menu. These could be your specialties or food from your new recipes. Not that you feel that the other dishes are inferior but because you wouldnt want to crowd the walls and windows with pictures.

Options for displaying big images of your dishes

Large graphics are a great means to showcase what your food is made of. The beauty of digital graphic printing is that images can be transferred to various materials. You can utilize thick cover stocks to make posters, mount them on foam core or simply print them on vinyl and hang them like banners.

If you intend to hang them on the walls, you can go for posters. Frame them if you want to, but make sure that the light does not reflect too much on the glass of the frame. This would make the picture difficult to see.

If you dont want to frame the pictures for that reason or to avoid extra costs, you can instruct the printer to give them a glossy finish. That way, the pictures appear brighter and fuller, as you save money without the frames.

If you want to post it outside your restaurant, use vinyl. These dont easily rip and are fade- and water-resistant. Your banner gets protected from the harsh weather conditions.

For regular menu items that are not offered on a daily basis like once-a-week promo meals, window clings are a perfect alternative. They stick to window surfaces but they can be removed and put back easily. You can display them on your windows only during days that they are served.

The next time your menu descriptions are not enough to convince a customer to try a dish, give him a glimpse of what to expect. Make posters and banners of your courses. Use digital graphic printing to guarantee better picture quality. With these images, your dishes become a feast for the senses -- first, the eyes and eventually, the palate.
