WORDS OF MASS DECEPTION
WORDS OF MASS DECEPTION
By: sunny rasheed lucman pacasum
I am writing this letter to you in hope that it will be taken into account without regard to the faith of the writer, or the color of his skin. Perhaps this letter may appear strange as I write to you as a member of an oppressed and persecuted Bangsamoro living in Muslim Mindanao.
We Muslims belong to a single community whose unity is based upon the interconnection of religion and state, where faith and politics are inseparable. My membership and loyalty to the Muslim community transcends all tribal bonds, customs and traditions.
It is with a heavy heart that I pen this, I cant seem to fight back the tears at the sight of so many angelic faced toddlers dragged out from under a bombed building in Qana. Its hard for me to cast emotions aside. What was done to Qana for the second time in 10years is a war crime.
But Israel isnt the lone perpetrator. The killing would have stopped months ago if it wasnt for the tacit and material support Israel has received from you and your ever-loyal British poodle Prime Minister Tony Blair. We are now certain like many of us have always been that your foreign policy is completely biased towards Israel, and you have made no effort to hide this fact. Just out of curiosity, are they also drafted in Tel Aviv? You insist the massacre in Qana was justified and that Israel has the right to defend itself. Defending oneself, I believe is a universal right, not exclusive to Israel. To the Muslim nation, the message is clear the Qana massacre was all made in the USA delivered to us with the compliments of George bush. And it all happened in front of Al-Jazeera TV cameras and was transmitted live all over the world.
The Islamic world would like to ask this question, does the American administration have a conscience? Does this biased stance, that has dismayed the entire world, have any justification and will it ever end? Is America greater Israel or is Israel lesser America?
Some claim the plan was drawn up to ease Israels security concerns and also serve as a prelude to a potential American pre-emptive attack to destroy Irans alleged nuclear installations which, by the way, is being hyped up by the largely Jewish owned North American media. Getting rid of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will not solve the problem. Another Muslim leader will emerge and receive the same popular support that Ahmadinejad now enjoys in Iran. Dont be misled by the CIA. No amount of sanctions against Iran will solve the problem, even if most of the world remained in favor of sanctionswhich it is not.
The CIA and your other alphabet agencies that operate upon shallow short term data, which is why their predictions have so often been so dangerously wrong. Surely the American people grow weary of this folly, after 50years and $170 billion in taxpayers support for Israels war making capacity. Some Americans, I believe, must be asking themselves if all this blood and treasure could have bought more tangible results for world peace. If only US policies had been predicated from the start on historical truth, equity and justice. My view if it is of any value to you, is that the Muslim world will never accept the existence of modern Israel, no matter how many treaties are signed and no matter what is agreed in them.
The creation of modern Israel under false pretences is the problem. If the Jews are entitled to their well known reverence for their historical identity, even if its largely mythic, then why expect the Arabs to yield their ideas of historical identity based on their much more accurate grasp of middle eastern history? We Muslims will fight for it until god grants it to us, As he has done with other lands. The only hope for lasting peace is for America to be big enough to admit to the world that the creation of modern Israel was a mistake brought about by historical ignorance and sincere, if misguided, sympathy for central European Jews after world war 2.
It seems that the US has consciously decided to wreck the worlds security organizations and violate the international laws in order to highlight that its might and power is above any law. This has become evident after 9/11 through its secret prisons and in Guatanamo Bay as well as in the current Israeli war against Lebanon. Only after it became clear that Israel had failed to achieve its military goals, did Washington and Tel Aviv turn to UN, which you regularly deride, to help achieve some of the goals the war failed to realize. In school we learn about the lofty ambitions of the United Nations when it was created. And we come home and watch Israels total destruction of Palestine everyday. And we ask an innocent enough question, isnt the UN doing anything? How can you explain that most resolutions passed on the Muslim nations are never followed by the parties concerned, unless we have the blessings of the US?
I cant understand why you people always ignore to include Muslim nations while taking decisions on world affairs. The UN Security Council doesnt have a single Muslim country as its permanent member, even though the Muslim population is more than 1 billion. The UN has done nothing other than begging for and delivering aid and even that is half-done. It has never exerted its influence to stop or prevent wars. Countless resolutions have been passed but none were implemented in their true spirit. The current management of the world suggests that the UN has fallen short of achieving the reason for its existence. Just whom are you trying to fool when you claim you want to see democratic governments in the Middle East? From the time you were elected to your 2nd term as president of the United States of America you have again and again alleged it is one of your core objectives for peace in the region.
Yet those who are at the receiving end of this middle east policies know quite a different story, we know from experience now, that you do not want democracy as it is normally understood, but a form of democracy that does the bidding of the US administration all the time. Anything less will fall short of American expectations and will likely bring some sort of incursion either by US troops or proxy. It is a dangerous game your playing and your playing it with Muslim lives and deaths. You pledged that democracy is the answer for a dysfunctional middle east. But now, Americas closest ally, Israel is bombing two of the newest democracies Lebanon and Palestine. While the third, Iraq is awash with bombs. And what better method of doing this then lumping them together under a broad umbrella called terrorism this is what you tried to do in Iraq when you labeled the Iraqi resistance who rightly objected the US led military presence as terrorist although they were later forced to admit only 2% of the militants were foreign fighters.
You did the same with Hamas when it was democratically elected to lead Palestinian National Authority. It was on its way to morphing into a respectable political party when it was demonized, marginalized and its leadership threatened with assassination. When it comes to Hezbollah, you are once again humming the same tune. It has taught me a good lesson in understanding the terminology of the American double standard. That when America decides that someone is a terrorist or an extremist it places them in the position of legendary heroes in the eyes of the oppressed and the wretched who need airing after their long defeat and subservience. You Mr. bush are incompetent in all those areas where a president needs to be competent. You manage to contradict yourself between the start of every sentence and at the end. Your father did it by staying out of Baghdad, raising taxes and driving down the deficit. You did it by going into Baghdad cutting taxes and driving up the deficit. After trying not to emulate your fathers presidency in anyway. You emulated it in the worst possible way. The support you gave Kosovo is seen by many Muslims as totally absent in the US policy of permissive neglect during the Chechnyan conflicts. That paved the way for the ethnic cleansing of Bosnian and Kosovar Albanian Muslims. You hire a coalition of Militias and warlords to overthrow the Somalian government which has been destroyed by poverty, and search for terrorist in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and Syria whose humble dwelling are threatened by Zionist terrorism everyday. But you forget that horrible terrorist tangibly dwells among you.
It is you and nothing but you. More than fifty nations suffer from your oppressive boycotts and economic penalties let alone from your military incursions. The other half of America hates you, Opinion polls vote you as the biggest threat to global security. Even the environment has identified you before the world as its greatest enemy. And as for being clean the whole world bears witness that you fought the cleanest war but with one simple observation. That although you cleaned out Hiroshima and Nagasaki , you unintentionally left a little pollution in its place. Perhaps you will realize your mistakes in Afghanistan and its citizens, and be more generous and paint the sites with a little cheap American paint.
Only few months ago, there was nothing but accolades for Lebanon for having sent the Syrians out. You even claimed Lebanon was the symbol of new democracy in the Middle East. How ironic that Lebanese are dying from American made missiles and bombs that are transported from the US to Israel by planes that refuel in Scotland, while other US planes carry food and medicine. Its a cautionary tale that very Muslim leader should keep by his bedside.
Mr. Bush, We Muslims dont forget our tragedies no matter how much time has passed. If you will not allow the whole Muslim nation to live in peace, dignity and national integrity. Then you and your proxy will not be able to enjoy those same rights. Meanwhile, our right to defend ourselves from occupying soldiers and aggression is a matter of law, as settled in the fourth Geneva Convention. But your present actions makes clear that the Geneva conventions are not a source of judicially enforceable individual rights. Or to put it another way the US does not recognize the Geneva conventions. So will enforce justice as it sees fit. Nevertheless, inshallah the Muslim Ummah will remain standing against all enemies, and that the severed body parts of innocent Muslim children in Chechnya, Gaza and the whole Muslim nation will be the last nails in the coffin of your theological arrogance.
Mr. Bush your foremost struggle now should be to save your political partys political fortune and rescue Americas image that you have progressively destroyed over the past six years. I was born too late to see how the British Empire had collapsed, but right in time to see how the American empire is falling apart.
Mr. Bush, you will surely be remembered for hastening that process. You may survive your second term the question remains will America? WASSALAM
With no more respect to offer,
