My Job As A Medical Biller
After I completed my course in medical billing , I started a job at an electronic medical billing service . The staff consisted of medical professionals, computer technicians and recent graduates of medical billing school- like me. My job consisted of data entry of insurance claims and patient claims into medical practice management software . I also answered phones and ran reports for physicians. More and more physicians are outsourcing their medical billing and medical claim management to electronic medical billing companies who are certified to handle multiple requests from physicians looking to take control of there medical billing. With new HIPAA regulations changing all the time, new patients coming in, old patients leaving and managing a staff of employees, it is challenging to make sure that all important details required of medical claims take place.
Hospitals, clinics and insurance companies are all embracing the electronic age of medical billing. Claims are sent faster, claims are paid faster and everyone is more organized without the heaps of paper claims getting lost either in the office or in the mail.
With an electronic medical billing service today- physicians can log onto the internet and see the status of all of their claims that my medical billing company and I can see. Because we share a dashboard that we can both log onto together, we can eliminate problems faster together. Having a dashboard that we can all see limits long wait times on the phone people used to have to wait for a customer service person to assess problems.
I have learned a lot as a medical biller about insurance details and medical details as well as computer skills training. Now I can’t imagine a hospital or clinic running without electronic medical billing service helping them help customers get more organized with fast and secure medical billing.
