I bought this item for my 1 year old Grand daughter for Christmas. She was a little afraid of it at first but in no time she was hugging it and playing with it. Before the end of the day it was her favorite toy. Later in the day my wife's family all came over for Christmas dinner and they all were in awe of this toy. Believe me, you will get a lot of remarks about how real this "Kitty Cat" looks and moves.
Disappointed January 6, 2009 Jorja's Mom (Cincinnati, OH)
This toy topped my 5yr old daughter's Christmas list, so I bought it when I saw it at a good price (around $40 I think). It's cute but doesn't work very well. It purrs when you pet it's head, but the paw-kneading it's supposed to do it not even noticable. I also tried pulling its tail to get a hiss out of it, but that either doesn't work or I haven't been able to find the correct place to pull. It's awkward to hold and not very soft. Both my daughter and I are disappointed in it; we both greatly prefer Tumbles, the rollover puppy, also from Fur Real. This cat has been sitting in my daughter's room since Christmas day.
has some benefits.. January 4, 2009 Amanda L. Day (Kentucky)
I bought this cat for my 9 year old autistic (Aspergers) son, who is absolutely crazy about cats. His face on Christmas Day was a sight to behold, although how he didnt figure it out before i'll never know because the darned thing meowed everytime someone went near the wrapped box even with the face pointed towards the wall and away from people/movement...anyway, he was in total awe and loved it, held on to it all day, allowing us all to share in the incessant meows, purrs, eye blinking, paw-moving, tail swishing, etc for many long hours....since that time, however, it has spent most of the time on his bed, meowing if anyone goes within 10 feet of it (honest!!). My son wanted a real kitten, but i felt that this was a good first step as he is not good at remembering to feed or water the two cats we already have....I do think this mass of wires and pressure sensors is useful in that respect, but cuddly it aint!!! The body is hard, the movements rather awkward (and limited and repetitive), I certainly do not believe that this toy is appropriate as a play toy for a child as young as four (as advertised), but it is ok for children 8 and up i think...but again, its not a cuddly feline, and its charms may not last...now, with my son, he does go in every once in a while and "confide" in his cat, and when he is having a melt-down he will go and hold it tight, so it has benefits there too for us...it can be helpful for children with sensory issues i believe. Overall, this toy was a good investment because it cost me a whole lot less than what is now being charged (I paid only $34 with free shipping), and I enjoy seeing the look of pleasure on my son's face when he does interact with it, but I would not purchase it for a very active/rough child, or a young child, and I would not pay the price they are wanting for it post-Christmas (it is advertised as low as $39 and $49, but you cannot get it, its out of stock everywhere, the cheapest i found it as of today is around $80 plus shipping...outrageous!!!). If you want a toy that will really entertain over a long time period this one is probably not going to be the one for you, but for my son, with his special needs, it has benefits that make it a good investment
Super cute kitty! January 2, 2009 D. Williams (California)
My 4 year old loves her kitty! She takes it everywhere. It doesn't always do what it's suppose to (what cat does?), but it is still really cute! Definitely worth the $40 I spent.
Worked great when we got it out of the box January 1, 2009 Jessica (Kingston, NY)
This was the only thing my almost 5-year-old daughter asked Santa for this Christmas. I had a little bit of a hard time finding one locally so we received the toy only a couple of days before the holiday. When we opened the Amazon box and realized that the cat did not work in the box, I nearly cried, but we decided to take our chances since we didn't have time to find a replacement. Well, Christmas morning came, we opened the box and it works like a charm! Everyone in the family stops to pet this adorable toy and my daughter is absolutely delighted with it.
